Legal Implications of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation For Workplace Managers
Workplace safety and health laws establish regulations designed to eliminate personal injuries and illnesses from occurring in the workplace. Generally laws consist primarily of Acts and subordinate legislation such as regulations. It is not the purpose of this article to address the complexities of the law, however, persons in a supervisory position should ensure that they are at least aware of the specific statutory requirements placed upon the position held. It is the responsibility of each individual to establish the specific statutory duties placed upon the incumbent of any specific supervisory position. Methods of Oil Spill Response
The EPA has established several programs to prevent oil spills which have reduced this number to less than 1% of the total volume handled each year. The Oil Spill Program is administered through 10 EPA regions and EPA Headquarters. Part of the program is designed to prepare for and respond to any oil spill affecting the inland waters of the US. Walking the Safety Talk
This past weekend I took a spin around a city trail on my bike. I was astonished at the number of parents cycling with their kids... yet only the kids were wearing helmets. Everyone knows wearing a bike helmet is a smart thing to do. Yes, it does mess up your hair, but it can also prevent serious, life debilitating brain injuries. I wonder what those parents will do when the time comes and their kids say "well, if you don't wear a helmet, why should I?"

But nobody takes into consideration the internal body damages or strains which can reduce the productivity of workers which ultimately lead to the low profits of the company. Ways to Reduce Accidents Rates in the Workplace
While many people worry everyday about traffic accidents and unforeseen events happening in the house, most people don't know that most of the accidents actually happen in the workplace. While this may be fairly obvious in jobs where heavy machinery is being used, this is also true for office jobs where improper practices can lead to accidents. Since employers may suffer from heavy expenditures by having an employee injured on the job due to compensation and reduced productivity, it is important to try to reduce accidents as much as possible.

Evacuation Chairs
The recent Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that consideration must be given to the safe evacuation of everyone who may be on your premises, whether they are employees, guests or members of the public, to ensure they can escape any building unharmed if there is a fire or emergency, paying particular attention to people who may be especially at risk such as those who may be injured, confined to a wheelchair or unable to negotiate stairs quickly. Evacuation chairs are made with the emergency escape of such people in mind.

Safety Signs - Role in Fire Protection
In times of emergencies, signs are primarily used as directions towards fire exits even emergency call boxes. The signs are also used in locating fire safety devices such as fire extinguishers, specifically during times when fire situations are urgent. These signs need to be visible in order to become effective that is why such is commonly made of material described as photo luminescent. Compliance with regulations also mean following standardized features such as size, location and height. There are also specific standards pertaining to the material used in making a safety sign.

Heat Stress and Sun Protection - Information OSHA Requires That Your Employees Know
If your employees work outdoors in the hot sun for extended periods of time, are subjected to temperatures of 75 degrees or more for hours at a time, or do physically exhausting work that causes them to sweat profusely while working, they may be susceptible to heat stress and heat-related illnesses. Mounting Fire Extinguishers and How to Use a Fire Extinguisher Mounting Bracket

It is beyond the scope of this article to get into how many fire extinguishers you should have for your workplace, or which type you need, so let us assume that you have your supply of the correct number and type of appliances and now you need to go about putting them where they need to be.

Being an Accidental Athlete With Aching Legs is a Health Risk
aching legs are an occupational hazard that can lead to health problems-and workplace accidents; they are usually seen as difficult issues to address by many people who suffer them. Maintaining Office Discipline at Your Workplace
"Discipline" ... exactly what kind of feelings this word brings to you? For most of us it brings negative feelings (especially those who were punished in the name of discipline at the hands of their teachers or parents). Childhood memories of disciplinary actions and penalties can urge people to resist even the thoughts of getting disciplined. Such behaviors are unfortunate to say the least, for the individual, the society he/she lives in and for the workplace where he/she works, because discipline alone is the most important ingredient in the recipe of success. We are bestowed with everything we need to achieve our goals; all we need to add is a little discipline (self-control).
